Mad Marlin X, out of Mad Marlin sport bar in Kailua-Kona, won the West Hawaii Mixed Pool League at Korner Pocket in Kealakekua against Korner Pocket A Team.

The team members are: Elizabeth Rendich, Joseph Martin, Dave Carpenter, Desiree Dochin, Ryder Paalua, Jeri Katoku, Clinton Guerpo and Colleen Gundaker

The 2013-14 season had seven teams. The Mixed League season started in October and ended in mid-February.

The Mixed Pool League is geared to attract new players and more women to the game of billiards. It involves tandem play, with at least one female playing in every game. Tandem play means the partners on the same team alternate shooting as long as they put their balls in the called pockets. If one of them misses, the partners on the opposing team shoot and alternate until they miss.

Each team plays other teams twice: once at the home bar and the next at the opponent’s bar. The games are calculated every night, and at the end of the season, the top four teams with the most wins qualify for the playoffs.

During the playoffs and the championship games, the first team to win seven games earns the victory.

Mad Marlin X beat Korner Pocket A seven games to one in the championship.
